About Me

Who is The Pharmacist Nutritionist?
Helen Shah MPharm ANutr, The Pharmacist Nutritionist, helps women and their families navigate the often confusing world of nutrition so they can regain control of their health and feel more energised, balanced, and confident in their everyday food choices.
After more than 20 years working in pharmacy, Helen realised that while medication plays an important role, it often comes too late. She saw firsthand how the right diet and lifestyle changes could slow the progression of - and sometimes even prevent - conditions such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease and obesity. Wanting to do more preventative work, Helen returned to university aged 40 and completed a Master’s degree in Human Nutrition.
Today, she combines her healthcare background with evidence-based nutrition to support women in making informed, sustainable dietary choices that can improve both their long-term health and how they feel day-to-day. Helen takes a holistic, non-judgemental approach, supporting clients with weight management, cholesterol reduction, pre-diabetes reversal and more through education, behaviour change and accountability.
Every consultation is bespoke, reflecting each client’s unique lifestyle, responsibilities, knowledge and goals. Helen’s ethos is simple: small, realistic changes - done consistently - can create powerful, long-lasting health benefits. With dual registration to both the General Pharmaceutical Council and the Association for Nutrition, her clients can be confident they are in safe, expert hands.
Alongside her business, Helen volunteers as a crisis support worker for The Oasis Centre in Gorton, North Manchester, supporting individuals in a deprived and often overlooked community. Outside of work, she loves developing nourishing recipes, playing padel with friends, taking motorhome trips with her family, and spending time outdoors with her beloved dog.
Qualifications and Experience
Helen Shah graduated in 2005 from The University of Bradford with a 1st class Masters in Pharmacy and is registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. She has worked in healthcare for the last 24 years, including community pharmacy, hospital outpatient pharmacies and most recently in urgent care.
In 2023, Helen gained her MSc in Human Nutrition at Manchester Metropolitan University, achieving a distinction. She is registered as an Associate Nutritionist (Anutr) with the Association for Nutrition (AfN), the only register of nutritionists recognised by Public Health England (PHE) and the NHS. She is particularly interested in preventative nutrition and its role in chronic disease risk reduction and its synergistic role alongside medications in chronic disease management.
